The life of Carlie Brucia, an eleven-year-old sixth grader at McIntosh Middle School was brutally cut short in early 2004. In response to a great outpouring of community grief and concern, her principal Robert Hagemann established Carlie's Memorial Fund at the Education Foundation of Sarasota County. Donations to the ongoing fund support Carlie's Secret Garden, an outdoor science classroom at McIntosh.
