The Education Foundation of Sarasota
County is pleased to announce the official start of the 2007-2008
Building Blocks for Success grant program. This grant program, now in
its tenth year, is open to Sarasota County School District educators.
Grants of up to $1200 (limit one to an applicant per year) are awarded
for use in the first semester. Proposals should be guided by the
district NeXt Generation Learning strategic plan.
Three types of Building Blocks for Success grant opportunities are
available:
Applications for this
grant are not available at this time.
1) Building Blocks for Success grants for teachers that implement
innovative teaching techniques in the classroom. Open to instructional
staff. (Use the General Building Blocks for Success application
set).
2) Building Blocks for Success grants for student learning projects that
foster business and financial literacy. Open to instructional staff.
(Use the General Building Blocks for Success application set).
3) Building Blocks for Success grants for professional or leadership
development. Open to instructional staff, principals, program
specialists, and district administrators. (Use the Washington Mutual
(WAMU) Building Blocks for Success application set).
Educators should download and review the entire 10-page application
set pertaining to the type of Building Blocks grant desired, which
includes:

· Grant Proposal Application (4 pages)
· Technology guidelines and addendum (2 pages)
· Tips for Success (2 pages)
The GAF form must be completed and submitted to the Grants Department
located in the Landings complex (Blue awning building) prior to the
grant submission deadline.
The Education Foundation is open and available to answer questions over

• Selby Building Blocks for Success - funds innovative student
learning and classroom projects. Made possible through a grant awarded
to the Education Foundation from the
William G.
Selby and Marie Selby Foundation.
• Julius Brandenburg Legacy Building Blocks for Success – funds
innovative student learning projects that increase business and
financial literacy. As a legacy for Mr. Brandenburg’s financial acumen,
these grants help prepare students to achieve in today’s global
marketplace.
• Washington Mutual (WAMU) Building Blocks for Success – funds
innovative professional/leadership development opportunities for
teachers, administration and education specialists. Made possible
through the generosity of
Washington Mutual.

application form (GAF) be filed with the district Research, Assessment
and Evaluation Office for each grant application submitted.
